Marine Suspects in Gang-Related Plot Return to Beaufort

Three of the four Beaufort Marines arrested near Columbia, South Carolina, last week are back at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

Air station officials say Cpl. Jermel Matthias, Lance Cpl. Shavon Striggles and Lance Cpl. Marcus Lofton are back at the air station after spending time in a military brig.

Richland County deputies say they, along with more than a dozen gang members, were plotting an attack at Irmo High School. Matthias and Striggles' commanding officer has punished them. Lofton is still awaiting his punishment.

Air station officials say Pvt. Carlos Downing, who fled from police after being arrested and taken back to the air station, is still in the brig. No word when he'll return to MCAS.
