Shooting Suspect Believed to Be Back in Savannah Area

The man accused of robbing and shooting a clerk at an Effingham County convenience store is now the prime suspect in the disappearance of a University of Virginia student.

Effingham County deputies think William Ashby shot Waynetta Toler in the head last week at Mighty Mike's convenience store in Eden. Toler is still recovering in the hospital.

Now Virginia authorities believe Ashby may be connected to the disappearance of a young woman from South Carolina attending the University of Virginia. Police believe Ashby has the woman's car. They're still searching for him.

They also found a car stolen in Savannah abandoned on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Afton, Virginia, outside of Charlottesville.

Authorities are still searching for Ashby and believe he is back in the Savannah area.
