Defense Presents Opening Arguments

Richard Darden, Thorpe's attorney, pointed out that the defense doesn't "have to prove a thing in this case," noting the burden of proof is on the state.

Darden says Brandon Miles, who was with Jennifer Ross, told police at least one of the robbers was a white male with blond goatee.

Brian Daly, Webster Wilson's, attorney, began presenting opening statements at 12:10pm. Daly told jurors, "This was a high-profile case, someone had to be arrested. It had to be done soon."

Amber Pittman, one of Kevin Huckabee's attorneys, began presenting opening arguments about 12:30pm. Pittman told jurors that justice is only served if the right man is convicted.

Opening arguments wrapped up at 12:38pm. Court is in recess till 2pm.
