FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - The Atlanta Falcons are hoping their much-maligned receiver corps will continue a mini-turnaround as they make a run for the playoffs in the season's final two weeks.
Wide receivers Roddy White, Michael Jenkins and Ashley Lelie have spent most of the season under fire for dropped passes and an inability to get open.
Quarterback Michael Vick has the lowest completion rate in the N-F-C, his receivers rank 31st in yards after the catch.
Jenkins, White and Lelie rank 74th, 76th and 78th -- respectively -- in yards-per-game among N-F-L receivers. But despite a loss to the Cowboys at the Georgia Dome last week, Falcons coaches think they saw some positive signs.
White gave Falcon fans a glimpse of his potential -- with three catches for 104 yards -- including two long bombs down the sideline.
Jenkins and Lelie both added short touchdown catches. The 7-and-7 Falcons need a win Sunday against the Carolina Panthers to keep alive any realistic hope of making the playoffs.
