The memory of Jennifer Ross, who was killed almost a year ago, motivated a large number of people to donate blood this week.
The Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross was contacted by a member of the 2006 Debutants who wanted to do something to keep the memory of Ross alive and thought a blood drive would be a great way. The American Red Cross said the turnout has been great, receiving more than they ever imagined.
Donor recruiter representative, Amy Clifton said, "We kicked off yesterday. We typically see 15 to 20 good units of blood. Yesterday on the 1st day we saw 40 units of blood, so it's been a huge help for us during the holiday season which is always difficult."
