ATLANTA - Stephanie Higgs scored 19 points and Georgia Tech used a 13-0 run to pull away from Alcorn State in a 76-54 win tonight.
Tech (8-3) led 21-13 with 13:15 left in the first half after Tina Huff hit a jumper for Alcorn State (3-6). But the Lady Braves then failed to score for nearly six minutes, and Janie Mitchell's layup with 11:31 left in the half triggered the 13-and-oh run.
The Yellow Jackets led 45-31 at halftime, and the margin was 49-33 when Rasaan Powell hit a layup for the Lady Braves with 18:41 to play.
Mitchell made a layup 21 seconds later, this time beginning a 12-and-oh run that stretched Tech's lead to 61-33 with 13:08 left.
Powell led the Lady Braves with 16 points. Chioma Nnamaka scored 16 for Georgia Tech.
