The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department has issued the following:

A homicide suspect wanted in connection with a double shooting on Savannah's eastside is in police custody. Mountrell Sharpe, 19, of Savannah surrendered to police shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday at the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.

He had been on the run since Nov. 1, 2006 when he shot Jamell Harrison and Chris Holloway in the 500 block of Hall Street. Detectives identified Sharpe as the gunman who shot the two men as they stood in front of Holloway's home on Hall Street, and sped off in a gold car.

Harrison, who was just a by-stander, died from his wounds two weeks later. The dispute between Holloway and Sharpe was over money. Sharpe is charged with murder and aggravated assault.
