Long County law enforcement and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating a one-car accident that claimed the lives of two teenage girls. Troopers say shortly after 9:30pm last night, four people were in a 2006 Scion heading west on Tibet Road, about eight miles outside of Hinesville near the Liberty-Long County line.
At some point, the driver lost control of the car. It went airborne and the back part of the car slammed into a tree.
The unidentified male driver and his front-seat passenger, also male, were not seriously injured. They were treated at the scene. But two girls in the back seat were dead by the time emergency medical workers arrived.
Troopers say the two girls are from Hinesville, but their identities have not yet been released. Charges in the accident are pending.
