Deadly Wreck on "Bad Curve"

A late night accident in west Chatham County has claimed the life of a Savannah man.

The driver of the car has been identified as 39-year-old Patrick James Barcomb.

Police say around 9:30 Monday night, Barcomb was driving East on Chevis Road and lost control of his Ford Taurus on what residents in the area call a bad curve.  The car veered off the road and slammed into two palm trees near the intersection with Palm Drive.

By the time police and emergency medical units arrived, Barcomb was already dead. There were no passengers in the car.

Savannah Chatham Police accident investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
