SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Joseph Flegler hit two 3-pointers in the final minute, including the game-clincher with 18 seconds remaining in a 66-65 victory over Coastal Carolina Thursday night. It was the Tigers' second straight win.
Javon Randolph led Savannah State (10-15) with 22 points -- 20 of them in the first half to help build a 39-26 lead going into intermission. The game was tied 10-10 midway through the first half when the Tigers went on a 15-5 run to take the lead. The Tigers, who also got 11 points each from Flegler and Josh Obiajunwa, spread the margin to 17 early in the second half, but the Chanticleers (11-11) chipped away through the final 10 minutes. They took a 58-57 lead with three minutes left on a 3-pointer by Jack Leasure, who led Coastal with 22 points.
Flegler helped the Tigers take the lead for good. In the final second, Coastal's Joshua Mack was fouled and made the front end of a one-and-one but the game-tying shot rattled around and fell out.
The Tigers are now 9-2 in the friendly confines of Tiger Arena but they are just 1-13 on the road this season.
