The simple office in Tara Crook's house doubles as her studio link to America. With a few phone lines and a website, she reaches out to military spouses with Army Wife Talk Radio.
"Our show is geared toward the new military spouses that don't know and aren't familiar with the jargon, and we're helping them be a part of this world, because it is so different," she explained.
For the past year and a half, she's recorded weekly podcasts listeners can download. This week, she goes live on her website.
"This going live has been a dream," she told us. "My original intention for the show was for Army wives by Army wives. But it's hard to get Army wives to call in and leave what amounts to a recorded message," she added.
So far, Tara averages 800 to 1,000 downloads of her recorded show. She hopes the numbers will double, triple, or more when wives can call in live and get immediate response from people who know exactly how they feel.
"No matter where you are in your Army wife life, there's somebody right along with you. It's not misery loves company, it's everybody loves company," she noted with a laugh.
Tara's live show debuts Monday night at 8pm on www.armywifetalkradio.com.
