KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Candace Parker had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Number Three Tennessee pulled away in the second half for a 73-57 win over ninth-ranked Georgia Monday night.
Alexis Hornbuckle added 14 points and Alex Fuller had 11 for the Lady Vols (21-2, 8-0 Southeastern Conference), who opened the second half with a 16-to-2 run. The Lady Bulldogs (19-5, 6-3) could not rally and had their five-game winning streak snapped. Their previous loss was to Tennessee at home, 52-to-41 on January 14th.
The Lady Vols had a six-point lead at halftime and stretched it to 20 at the beginning of the second half. Sidney Spencer scored all nine of her points during the spurt, and Nicky Anosike's inside basket with 14:47 to go made it 43-23. Georgia finally scored on Angel Robinson's basket 20 seconds later. Parker, held to 10 points in the teams' first meeting, had only four points in the first half but found a way to score around tough defenders in the paint after halftime.
