ATLANTA (AP) - Chioma Nnamaka scored 14 points, including two crucial free throws in the closing seconds, and the Georgia Tech women beat Clemson 62-59 Monday night in Atlanta.
The game was tied 27-27 at halftime. Tech (17-10 overall, 8-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) managed to take a 42-36 lead with 12:46 left in the game on Nnamaka's 3-pointer, but Clemson (12-15, 4-8) rallied and tied it at 48 on Adrianne Bradshaw's jumper with 8:44 left.
The game was tied at 57 before Jacqua Williams gave the Yellow Jackets the lead for good by hitting a free throw with 1:24 left. Jill Ingram's two free throws extended Tech's lead to 60-57 with 19 seconds to play. Lele Hardy responded with a layup that cut the lead to 60-to-59, but Nnamaka then made her free throws to give Tech a three-point lead. Tasha Taylor's last-second 3-point attempt was blocked by Williams.
Taylor led all scorers with 17 points. Janie Mitchell scored 13 for Tech.
