DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Four Bethune-Cookman players hit eight out of ten free throws in the final 30 seconds to lift their their team to a 47-42 victory over Savannah State Wednesday night.
The top scorer for Bethune-Cookman (8-18) was Dewayne Pettus with nine points. John Anderson and Ron Mitchell contributed another eight points each.
Joshua Obiajunwa put up 11 points for Savannah State (11-18), and Javon Randolph added 10. Bethune-Cookman never trailed in the first half, taking a 17-16 lead into the break.
Savannah State, with five points from Patrick Hardy, moved to a four-point lead, 25-21, with 15:21 left in the second half. A 10-0 run for Bethune-Cookman put the team back in charge by seven, 35-28. But Savannah State fought back late behind Lazarius Coleman's five straight points to get within two, 44-42.
