Oily Rags Blamed in Midtown Fire

Savannah firefighters have determined that oily rags caused a fire in the midtown area. The fire broke out about 8am yesterday morning on East 39th near Paulsen.

The apartment home was currently under renovation. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the ceiling.

Fire investigators first believed the fire may have started inside a wall on a lower floor, but now believe the fire actually started in the attic.

They were able to bring the blaze under control quickly and no one was injured.
