Back in September, WTOC was first to tell you about the staph infection that ran rampant at Benedictine High School. Some football players had to be sidelined until their infections cleared up.
While the bacteria is resistant to most antibiotics, simple things like good hygiene can prevent the infection from spreading. "You must have a good hand sanitizer available for students to use especially when they come in from playground and before they eat. Also, clean surfaces," said Jean Fleming, an Infection Control Expert.
Fleming also suggests disinfecting computers and sports equipment. And don't share clothing with others.
