The City of Savannah has issued the following:
Call it the Luck O' The Irish: The City of Savannah will waive all meter-violation tickets issued Friday.
A news release sent out March 1 indicated that on-street, metered parking would be free Friday, March 16 through Sunday, March 18. That was in error: While meters are not enforced on weekends, they were to be enforced Friday.
Parking enforcement officers were made aware of the error Friday morning, and ceased issuing tickets before noon. However, an unknown number of meter-violation citations had already been issued up to that point. The decision has been made to waive those citations.
The City regrets the mistake and any inconveniences it may have caused.
