Soldiers From Fatal Tybee Road Crash Identified

Highway 80, Sunday Evening Highway 80, Sunday Evening

(The following is a news release from the Savannah-Chatham Police Department)

The soldiers who died in Sunday evening's crash on Tybee Road have been identified. Savannah-Chatham Police traffic investigators identified 22-year-old Kenya Judon of Cadwell Georgia as the driver of the 1999 Chevy Camaro and Dominic Perry, 19, of Southington, Connecticut as the passenger.

Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the deadly crash. The two Hunter based servicemen were headed west on U.S. 80 from Tybee Island shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday when Judon lost control of his car and slammed into a utility pole.

The impact later forced Georgia Power officials to shut off electrical services to many Tybee residents as a result of the crash. Officials cut the power from 1:30- 4:30 a.m. Monday to make the necessary repairs.
