Sheila Dodd and her 13-year old son William have vanished without a trace.

They were last seen in their hometown of Round O, South Carolina in Colleton County Tuesday, but investigators weren't worried until Sheila's car turned up in Oglethorpe County, Georgia.

Deputies say it's a bizarre situation, and they feel like they've already lost precious time in their hopes to find Sheila and William Dodd alive.

Dozens of searchers are combing over hundreds of acres of woodland around the Dodd's home, while a plane scours the same area from above.

Investigators won't say what evidence they have that leads them to believe a crime was committed, but they've had this intense search going since discovering Sheila Dodd's Toyota Rav-4.

Deputies know who the man driving that car is, but for now, he's not their main focus.

"Right now he's just a person of interest," said Chief Deputy Ted Stanfield, with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office. "We're not really identifying him yet, but as this search goes on and we get more information he may become a strong suspect or whatever. But right now our biggest concern is seeing if we can find Miss Dodd and her son."

Sheila Faye Dodd is a 45-year-old white female, 5'2" tall weighing approximately 150 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Her son William is a 13-year-old white male, approximately 5'4" tall, weighing about 145 pounds with dark brown hair.

If you've seen Sheila Faye Dodd or William Dodd or if you have any information about their whereabouts, please call the Colleton County Sheriff's Office at 843.549.2211 or 843.549.1203.
