One senior citizen group is helping them do just that by holding a Successful Aging Fair. Today St. Joseph Candler's Smart Senior Program helped baby boomers get on the right path for retirement.
They held an open fair, complete with information on health and wellness, and community services, like financial planning. Health officials say they hope the fair will help seniors transition into retirement smoothly. "It gives them the opportunity to see what's going on. Everyday is changing, our life changes with information. If we don't get out and get it, we sit home and get very old, quickly," said Jack Adams, a Smart Senior Representative.
The group also got seniors up and exercising and held free health screenings to check for high blood pressure and sugar levels.
