Car Crashed into Effingham Co. Store

The car smashed through the store's front window. The car smashed through the store's front window.

Some Effingham County workers got quite a scare this afternoon when a car smashed right through their business. It happened around 3pm at the BP Station at Goshen Corner. Effingham County Sheriff's deputies say the driver, 74 year old Mary Scott, was trying to park her daughter-in-law's car when she jumped the parking block, went over the curb and smashed through the glass, right into the store. No one inside was hurt, but paramedics took Scott to the hospital to check her for injuries. Melissa Marshall, who works as a cashier, was inside the store when it happened.

"It was very scary," admitted Marshall. "(I was) Shaky. Nervous, scared to death really because there were three kids (in the store) and I didn't know at the time whether they were hurt, but thank God, they weren't."

Effingham County Sheriff's deputies say no charges were filed.
