Kiss-A-Pig Fundraiser Wraps Up

Raising money for a good cause usually is a good thing, but when you can have a good time doing it, well that makes giving that much more special.

Hundreds of people came out to the Tybee Island Lighthouse grounds all decked out in pirate gear with bandanas, beards and crazy colors, for the 15th annual Kiss-A-Pig fund-raising campaign. Today's event started off with a silent auction at the Shriner Fort and then everyone filled the main tent area behind the Tybee Lighthouse for dinner and live entertainment. One of the nine candidates competing to kiss the pig said this fundraiser was more than just trying to win.

"If I don't win, we all won because we are trying to find a cure," said candidate Angela Powell.

Dr. Thomas Lockamy's team, the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools won, and the second winner of the remaining seven candidates was Cale Hall from Club One. $268,000 dollars was raised and all money will go towards the American Diabetes Association. WTOC also sponsored today's event.
