Georgia shoppers get to shop tax free twice in the coming months. Gov. Sonny Perdue signed legislation to let back-to-school shoppers buy what they need, from clothing to pencils and computers, tax free from August 2 through August 5.
Then from October 4 through October 7, shoppers will be able to buy energy-efficient products, like programmable thermostats and ceiling fans, with a sale price of $1,500 or less tax free.
The sales tax holiday costs state and local governments--and saves shoppers--about $20 million a year.
