All season long he's been known as Brandon Collins, the catcher for the Calvary baseball team. But during playoff time, he's taken on a different name--Mr. Clutch.
"We love having brandon as a teammate. he comes through in all the situations. he's been playing good ball all season, especially during the playoffs. when you got a teammate like that you can do nothing but support him."
Collins earned the name during the third round of the playoffs against Aquinas--in the seventh inning he showed why.
"I got up there and I wasn't expecting to hit one out, I was just trying to hit the ball hard and I guess when I hit it, it when. When I saw it go out I was just so happy. I knew we had to play three outs left in the bottom of the seventh. When Brad got that third out, Blake threw me the ball it just sunk it we just won the game."
The senior has the chance to lead his team to redemption on Friday as the Cavaliers face Eagles Landing Christian Academy, the same team that stopped Calvary last year from winning their second consecutive state title.
"We want them bad, I know us seniors do that played last year and felt the defeat. We wanna have them here when we celebrate the state championship on our field."
