Help is on the way for our troops serving overseas and it's coming from right here in the Coastal Empire.
Community leaders came together today at the JCB plant in Pooler to get a look at JCB's brand new high mobility engineer excavator.
President of JCB-The Americas Graeme MacDonald, said this machine will be very helpful for troops fighting overseas. "This device can go up to 60 miles an hour and can keep up with the front line deployments of troops and it's absolutely vital in Iraq and Afghanistan," said MacDonald.
MacDonald said the high mobility engineer excavator has a base contract valued at $160 million over the next 5 years. $85 million of that will go back into Chatham County as an investment.
WTOC's vice president and general manager, Bill Cathcart, was also among business leaders attending today's ribbon cutting.
