Savannah State's rise to Division one athletic status with the NCAA has been the subject of an investigative committee appointed by interim school president... Julius Scott... and found the move had flaws in preparation and fund raising. Only baseball has enjoyed any kind of success on the field.
The school's new president... Dr. Earl Yarbrough... has vowed to look into the issue, "I'm going to spend some time with Dr. Scott, who was the interim president, talking about the report and listening to people. I think it's my job right now to listen and to learn as much as I can about it. We'll approach it and we'll solve it. I don't know what the result will be at this particular point but I want to listen to all constituents in this matter and form some kind of opinion that's going to be best for our students."
