ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Hawks have signed first-round draft picks Al Horford and Acie Law to multi-year contracts, clearing the way for the two to play in the summer league this month in Salt Lake City.
The signings Tuesday came only hours before the first workout for Hawks' rookie-free agent camp. Horford, the Number three pick in the first round, is expected to play forward and center for the Hawks. Horford (6-10, 245) was a three-year starter at Florida. Law, the Number eleven pick, is expected to compete for a starting job at point guard. Law averaged 18-point-one points per game for Texas A-&-M as a senior.
Horford will earn $3.1-million as a rookie and $3.35-million in his second year. The first two years are guaranteed, and the Hawks have options for the third and fourth seasons.
Law is guaranteed salaries of $1.6-million as a rookie and $1.72-million in his second year.
The players will join other rookies and second-year players in the Rocky Mountain Revue, the annual summer league that begins on Friday and continues through July 20th.
