WASHINGTON (AP) - New leadership for John McCain's presidential campaign.
Campaign manager Terry Nelson and chief strategist John Weaver say they've resigned.
But some campaign officials say Nelson, a veteran of President Bush's successful re-election effort in 2004, was fired.
Two officials say longtime McCain aide Rick Davis will take over the campaign.
In a statement, Nelson said he thinks McCain is the most "prepared candidate" among the GOP hopefuls.
And Weaver, in a statement, says he thinks most Americans will come to the conclusion that McCain is the one person "equipped" to serve as chief executive.
