Two neglected dogs have been nursed back to health after being rescued by police in Bluffton.
Just over a month ago, police found Schnook and Schmoo undernourished and neglected. Police say when they discovered the two dogs on June 1, they were in bad shape.
"It can only be described as a garbage dump, with beer cans, garbage and in the midst of all of that trash," described Chief David McAllister from the Bluffton Police Department. "They found the two dogs, they were so week, they couldn't even get up, they tried, they tried to wag their tales, there was no food, no water, there wasn't any evidence they had been fed."
But after spending some time at the Hilton Head Humane Association, they've been nursed back to health and they're both now ready to find a new home.
"These two have a very special story, they are now deserving of a good life and should be with a family that will treat them like one of the family," said Frannie Gerthoffer of the Hilton Head Humane Association.
