NEW YORK (AP) - The San Diego Chargers selected Georgia cornerback Paul Oliver in the N-F-L supplemental draft on Thursday.
Oliver, picked 28th in the fourth round, was the first player selected in the draft. It accommodates players who were ineligible for the standard draft.
Oliver failed to meet academic standards and was declared ineligible for his senior season. He was among Georgia's leaders with 57 tackles last season.
The Baltimore Ravens chose Maryland tackle Jared Gaither 31st in the fifth round. Oliver and Gaither were the only players chosen in the supplemental draft. G
aither started in 17 of Maryland's last 21 games.
With the selections, San Diego and Baltimore will forgo the corresponding picks in the 2008 draft.
