Domestic Violence, Firearms Charges for Accused Stepfather

Kevin Jerome Williams, the Yemassee man accused of fatally shooting his stepson on July 9, now faces additional charges of criminal domestic violence and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. (See: Stepfather Arrested on Charges of Killing Stepson.)

Investigators say Williams, 40, shot Rodney Young following a domestic dispute with Young's mother, Valerie Young. They say the dispute escalated, and Williams is suspected of hitting Valerie several times with a shower curtain rod.

Young apparently attempted to intervene, and left after a verbal altercation with Williams. While he was outside, investigators say William got a shotgun from under a bed. Young came back inside, and the argument continued before Williams shot Young in the upper thigh.

Young died several hours later at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
