D.J. Wabick had one of two Sand Gnat Hits on the night
Wabick singles in the 8th breaking up the no-hitter
Going into the series final against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, the Savannah Sand Gnats were working on a 16 inning scoreless drought. It got worse Thursday night, the Grasshoppers put 7 on the board against the Gnats through the first 7 innings, and Savannah not only did not have a run, yet but they were also being no hit by Grasshoppers pitcher, Cristhian Martinez.
In the 8th inning, D.J. Wabick lead off with a single to centerfield to break up the no-no. Jonathan Sanchez then followed with a two run homerun to right to end the 23 inning scoreless drought.
But that's all the runs the Sand Gnats would get, they fall to Greensboro 7-2.
Savannah is back in action Friday night when they host the Hickory Crawdads at Historic Grayson Stadium. First pitch is 7:05 pm
