West Nile Virus Mosquitoes Found in Garden City Again

Garden City mayor Andy Quinney held a meeting with Chatham County Mosquito Control. Garden City mayor Andy Quinney held a meeting with Chatham County Mosquito Control.

The West Nile virus was detected for the second time in Garden City in just a few weeks (see West Nile Virus Found in Garden City Mosquitoes). Now Garden City's mayor along with Chatham County Mosquito Control are teaming up to make sure people know the potential dangers of a mosquito bite.

"Our concern is that these mosquitoes don't grow in the canals, they are found in flower beds, bird baths and things around your house. We just want to inform them to make their house safe because that's where the breeding ground for these mosquitoes are," said Garden City mayor Andy Quinney.

Chatham County Mosquito Control officials say they will be treating Garden City through the end of the week.

You can find more about West Nile on the Chatham County Health website at, http://www.gachd.org.
