Keeping Pets Safe From the Heat

The heat may be getting to you, but how about your pets?

Experts warn, take care of your furry friends during these extremely high temperatures. If you have to take them outside, make sure there is a shaded area, plenty of water and maybe even a kiddie pool where they can stay cool.

But your best bet is to keep them indoors with air conditioning. "Oh, they can't be outside in this weather," said Shady Pines Doggy Caycare owner Bobbi Speegle. "I mean we can't, so how can we expect our dogs to be outside in this heat."

Speegle says animals should not be left outdoors in this heat unsupervised or you could run the risk of the dogs getting dehydrated and even dying from heat stroke.
