Groves High Preview

Junior Maurice Lexley plans to run the Rebels into the playoffs Junior Maurice Lexley plans to run the Rebels into the playoffs

Don't sleep on the Groves High Rebels, because they'll run right over you.

Especially that Maurice Lexley. The junior an for over a thousand yards last season as a sophomore, and now he's one year older, one year wiser.

He says, "I'm very excited, and happy to be back on the field. I hope to scrap for more yards and to make the coach look even better."

Speaking of coach, Meet Coach Richard Redding, he's the new head rebel. He comes to Groves from Westside Macon and he brings with him 25 years of coaching experience.

"Right now we are in the learning process," says Redding, "We have 44, 45, 46 kids out here and 5 new coaches. I expect to get better each day."

"He has a very different style than DeMasi but it's fun as long as you get it." adds Lexley.

He may have a different style than former coach Karl DeMasi but the philosophy remains the same, to win ball games.

"I want to achieve wins and win all our games and get back to the playoffs." says Lexley.

With Lexley in the backfield and 1000 plus yard passer Cameron Tillman returning under center, the Rebels can certainly make another run toward the playoffs this season.
