The high school football season kicked off Friday night in South Carolina... and the schools that play in South Carolina leagues. That includes Bible Baptist and St. Andrew's from Savannah.
Bible Baptist hosted Colleton Prep, one of the top private school teams in the state. The War Hawks whipped the Braves 47-6, but the Braves had one highlight, a 65-yard pass from freshman Jerel Richards to Tevin Thomas to make it 7-6 late in the first quarter.
In other scores, Beaufort went on the road and whipped Aiken 24-7. WTOC Super 11 All-Star Adrene Byas scored one of the touchdowns for the Eagles.
St. Andrew's suffered a loss on the road, losing to Charleston Collegiate 21-7.
Hilton Head Prep went to Hardeeville for the inaugural football game for the Hurricanes, and beat them 31-6.
Hilton Head Christian went to Dillon and topped Dillon Christian 30-7.
Next week, Hilton Head High, Battery Creek, Estill and Ridgeland will open their seasons.
