JoWanda Taft received her doctorate as a pharmacist and was also commissioned today as a Captain in the US Army. Retired Major Dr. Bob Philpot, also the director of the Physician Assistant Program at South University performed the ceremony.
JoWanda will use her degree and be a pharmacist in the Army. "I was in the National Guard for six years. Then I was active two years and I really enjoyed it. So, I thought the Army would be rewarding to me." said Taft.
The Army also agreed to repay $110,000 of JoWanda's student loans. She will find out within a month where she'll be stationed.
