Kelsey Winters is a senior at St. Andrew's and is at the top of her class academically.
"Academics are first," she said.
But when it comes to swimming, she's world class. Kelsey started swimming when she was five, but she just did it during the summer months. It wasn't till she was in high school that she really started to love the sport and became very dedicated.
So dedicated, we could be watching her compete in the 2008 Olympics next summer.
"I just recently qualified for the Olympic time trials this past August, in the 100-meter butterfly," said Kelsey.
She'll get her chance to qualify in June, and if all goes well, she could be going to China as a member of Team USA.
When asked if she was excited, Kelsey told us, "I am, but I am really nervous, and I have a lot more work to put in, in order to get me on that team, but I am just keeping my mind on that prize."
Hopefully a gold, silver, or bronze medal.
Swim coach Bill Forrester says Kelsey never misses a practice and is the most talented swimmer he's ever seen. "It makes you feel good that you had someone to dedicate themselves to a sport and be great," said Forrester.
Her hard work in the classroom and in the pool makes Kelsey Winters a WTOC Top Teen.
