For 3 and a half quarters, the Georgia Southern football team was down and out. But per their team motto, they found a way to win.
21-17 Eagles prevail over the Citadel, Saturday afternoon for homecoming.
GSU got the scoring started in the first quarter with a Jesse Hartley 23 yard field goal but the Bulldogs were unleashed scoring 14 unanswered points. The 'Dogs went into the locker room up 14-3 at the break.
In the second half, the Eagles came out fired up. They added a field goal to cut the lead to 14-6. After a Citadel field goal put the Bulldogs up 17-6, the Eagle offense woke up. Jayson Foster opened up the 4th quarter with a 15 yard touchdown run and Coach Hatcher dug into the bag of tricks to compete a two point conversion cutting the lead to 3.
With 7:28 to play in the ball game, Jayson Foster busted loose, 80 yards to the house, sealing the deal for Georgia Southern and completing the comeback.
GSU wins 21-17. They move to 3-2 in conference play, 6-2 overall. Next week they travel to SOCON leader Wofford.
