For 3 and a half quarters, the game belonged to The Citadel. But in the game of football you play four quarters. After 60 minutes it was Georgia Southern who came out on top 21-17
Head Coach Chris Hatcher says, "overall we made more plays than they did. We really played well in the second half. I'm real proud of our football team to battle like they did all afternoon. Sometimes it takes 4 quarters against a good football team."
Running back Lamar Lewis adds, "every week we feel like it's the biggest game of the week because it's the only game we have. So when it comes to big games, it's not a big deal, we just go out there and play hard."
This was another important victory for the Eagles considering GSU was looking up at the Citadel in the southern conference standings.
Hatcher says, "they were 5 and 2 in the conference and they have a great football team. Their guys played hard and they executed well. They have a great coach and we got to give the other team credit."
Defensive end, Larry Beard had 4 total tackles against the Citadel, "this is a big confidence boost. To show what you can do against a high scoring team, but we got to make sure we do the same thing next week."
Junior wide receiver, Raja Andrews adds, "the SOCON is coming up. Teams that in the past some people thought weren't good, it's not like that anymore. Every week you have to come out and compete."
The road ahead doesn't get any easier, the Eagles head to Wofford, another team the eagles are looking up at in the standings, another ranked team, Wofford.
