Ben Tucker Roasted and Honored at the Westin

Ben Tucker is a name synonymous with jazz in Savannah.

Wednesday night, the crowd at the Westin Resort learned something else about the jazz legend. The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum roasted him during the 2nd Annual "A Taste of Music Law Style."

More importantly, they also presented Mr. Tucker with the W.W. Legacy Award. An award the honors for his ever present positive force in human relations and Civil Rights in this region.

Since arriving in Savannah, Mr. Tucker established himself as the first African American to own a radio station in Savannah.

"I'm honored...I love everyone here..I mean there must be 450 people here for this...and I am just touched and honored," said Mr. Tucker.

WTOC was a proud sponsor of the event and Sonny Dixon was not only the Master of Ceremony, but also had a little fun as one of the roasters.
