11 Arrested in Magazines Soliciting Case

From the Bluffton Police Department:

The newly formed Problem Solving Team along with Uniform Patrol officers captured the band of gypsies sales people operating within the Town of Bluffton in the past few days.  After a tip from the Middle School SRO, officers responded and canvassed the Buckwalter area.  Three subjects were taken into custody and the investigation led officers to find the remaining sales force and the manager who was operating out of a Savannah motel.

The subjects were employed with a company called XTREME Marketing out of Buford, GA.   The company claims to be a legitimate marketing firm that recruits young adults from across the country with the promise of cash payouts and vacations in exchange for selling books and magazines.  Company representatives state that at no time were their employees authorized to represent themselves as local college students.  Any customer is encouraged to call 678-525-8503 if they feel they have been scammed or mislead in to purchasing unwanted products.

In total eleven individuals were charged with a violation of town ordinances and were fined in excess of $2800.00.  In addition the subjects were ordered to cease all sales activity within the area.
