Gailey on the sidelines against Georgia, his last game with Tech
ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Tech fired football coach Chan Gailey on Monday.
It comes less than 48 hours after another loss to rival Georgia ended a disappointing 7-and-5 season.
A person familiar with the situation, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not been made, says athletic director Dan Radakovich will announce Gailey's dismissal at an afternoon news conference.
The move was widely expected after the Yellow Jackets came up far short of another run at the Atlantic Coast Conference championship one year after winning its division. And it didn't help matters that Gailey went 0-and-6 against the school's biggest rival, losing 31-17 to the Bulldogs on Saturday.
