Savannah Soldier Spends Fourth Christmas Overseas

SAVANNAH, GA--A Hunter Army Airfield soldier will be spending his fourth Christmas overseas.

Staff Sgt. Cedric Durr is from Savannah. He is an avionic mechanic--he fixes the communication and navigation devices on Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters.

Sgt. Durr has served in Afghanistan and Iraq. WTOC spoke with him to via satellite from Iraq today. He said this is the fourth time he's been away from his wife and family for the holidays since 2002.

"It's going to be kind of hard," said Sgt. Durr. "But this time a little better, she has a dog at the house to keep her company, her family is coming to be with her for the holiday. Me, I can deal with it, it's all about her."

Sgt. Durr is expecting a big Christmas package in the mail any day. He said many of the solider he's deployed with have set up Christmas trees and even wrapped gifts to put under the trees.
