Christmas In ...Hardeeville

Hardeeville Christmas parade. Hardeeville Christmas parade.

HARDEEVILLE, SC--At the corner of Main Street and Highway 17, Hardeeville meets the definition of a small southern town. But at Christmas time, the city's one light suddenly has a lot of company.

On that night, all ages and all corners of Hardeeville gather to light the town tree and down at Santa Claus Lane, a drive-through tour of animated light displays at the local Recreation Center, Hardeeville succeeds in making the season bright.

But it is an unmistakable sense of community that makes the holiday and the city, glow.

"I think it goes back a lot to the small town values and the sense of togetherness,'' says Paul Floeckher, director of public information for the City of Hardeeville. "You do feel the Christmas spirit all season here. You do see your neighbors and you see people wishing each other merry Christmas and you do, with that sense of community, feel what the season is all about.''

And from the morning of the Christmas parade through the night Santa shows up, the entire holiday season is about Hardeeville benefiting from its size, a small town becoming an even cozier place to be.
