How You Can Help

If you'd like to help victims of the Imperial Sugar refinery explosion, you can drop off or mail your donation to the Savannah Red Cross at PO Box 9987, 906 Drayton Drive, Savannah, GA 31412.

You can also call 912.651.5371 or donate online with a credit or debit card, through the secure Savannah Red Cross website.

Imperial Sugar has also set up an account for victims at the Bank of America. The company is posting updates on its website.

United Way is administering funds as well; go to any Wachovia or SunTrust to donate. Credit card donations may be made by calling 912.651.7701 or by mailing a check or money order payable to United Way of the Coastal Empire with "Sugar Refinery Family Support Fund" in the memo line to:

American Red Cross at Tibet Avenue and Abercorn Street, Monday through Thursday, 11am to 7pm, Friday 8am to 3pm, Saturday 8am to 2pm, Sunday 1pm to 5pm.

The Red Cross is also running a Family Assistance Center at the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, 402 Pinehurst Street. They're bringing in licensed mental health personnel to help families affected by the explosion.

The Savannah Community Blood Bank is extending its hours during this time of crisis. It is located at 4700 Waters Ave. Call 912.350.5643 for information.
