SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - In a news conference Tuesday morning in Augusta, Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center said another of the victims of Thursday's explosion in Port Wentworth has been upgraded to serious condition.

Twenty people were taken to burn centers in Augusta following the explosion at the Imperial Sugar refinery. Since then, three have been released. Two of the other 17 have now been taken off ventilators and upgraded to serious condition. Fifteen remain in critical condition.

Dr. Mullins says the most serious threat in these cases, as with all burn victims, is infection.

Crews are still working to put out the fires in two of the refinery's three sugar storage silos. A team of silo fire specialists with equipment that can pump 5,000 gallons of water a minute are working the blaze today.
