SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Army Spc. Ryan Verch has received 262 months in prison for producing child pornography and sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a release from the office of Edmund Booth, US attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.
Verch had been stationed at Fort Stewart. Prosecutors say he took sexually explicit pictures of a relative under the age of 2, and distributed those on the internet.
The case is one of several recently brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
