Burn Victims' Families Receive Prayer Blankets

AUGUSTA, GA (WTOC) - A group from the First Baptist Church in Richmond Hill got together to make prayer blankets to bring comfort to the families of the Imperial Sugar explosion burn victims in Augusta (see Prayer Blankets for Burn Victims).

Before being sent off to Augusta, the blankets were placed on the altar and hundreds in the congregation prayed over them.

This morning, our own Dal Cannady helped deliver those blankets to Doctors Hospital in Augusta. When families got their first look at the blankets from the Sewers Club of First Baptist, some said they'd already heard about them from our earlier reports of the moving service Sunday night and were most grateful.

"We just thank the ladies for thinking of us," said Hattie Frazier, a burn victim's mother. "Everybody is thinking about us, that's what's wonderful and helps us a lot."

Several families in Augusta say they have become like one big family as they rely on each other as well as the host of supporters across the Coastal Empire.
