Saturday Event to Raise Money for Refinery Victims

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Effingham County Imperial Sugar Recovery Fundraiser, a committee organized to raise money for families of Effingham County residents affected by the February 7 explosion in Port Wentworth, announced it has collected close to $15,000.

The money has come from Boston butt sales and donations ahead of this Saturday's main event, a silent auction at Kelly's Tavern in Springfield. The group says silent auction items alone are valued at over $50,000.

The fundraiser at Kelley's Tavern is Saturday, February 8, beginning at 11am, and features live music and entertainment.

Dusty Ziegler will sign autographs between 11am an 2pm. He is also donating an autographed New York Giants 2008 Super Bowl football.

There will also be a bake sale and raffle tickets. Kelly's Tavern is donating 50 percent of inside food sales, while all of the outside sales will be donated to the recovery effort.
